Nectar Collectors & Dab Straws
A full dab rig isn't always necessary.
Nectar collectors and dab straws offer a smaller, more direct way to enjoy concentrates. Instead of placing concentrate into a heated banger, you bring the heated tip of the nectar collector to the concentrate and draw through the piece.
Simple idea. Very little setup.
At Bongstar you'll find portable nectar collectors in glass, silicone and metal designs, including compact kits made for storage and travel.
What Is a Nectar Collector?
A nectar collector is a concentrate piece with a tip on one end and a mouthpiece on the other.
The tip is heated and then lightly touched to the concentrate while you inhale through the mouthpiece. Some designs are completely dry, while others add water filtration and feel a little closer to using a traditional dab rig.
Because everything is built into a relatively small piece, nectar collectors are easy to store and don't take up much space.
Nectar Collector or Dab Straw?
You'll see both names used, and there's plenty of overlap between them.
Dab straw usually describes a simpler, more compact design. Nectar collector has become the broader term and can include larger pieces, water filtration, interchangeable tips and complete travel kits.
You may also come across the name honey straw.
Different names. Same basic idea – bringing the heated tip to the concentrate instead of loading a separate banger.
Glass, Silicone or Metal?
Glass is a classic choice, especially if you want to see what's happening inside the piece.
Silicone makes sense when durability and portability matter more. It's much less stressful to carry around than an all-glass piece.
Metal designs take another approach entirely and can make for a particularly compact setup.
There's no material that's automatically right for everyone. If the nectar collector is staying at home, you might prefer glass. If it's going into a bag regularly, durability becomes a much bigger consideration.
Quartz Tips and Nectar Collector Kits
The tip matters just as much as the body.
Some nectar collectors use quartz tips, while others may use different heat-resistant materials depending on the design. Complete kits can also include several pieces or accessories together instead of making you build the setup separately.
Our current selection includes both individual nectar collectors and multi-piece travel kits, so you can keep things simple or pick up a more complete setup.
Nectar Collector vs Dab Rig
They're two different approaches to the same category of concentrates.
A dab rig gives you a larger setup with a separate banger and, usually, more substantial water filtration. A nectar collector strips much of that away.
That makes nectar collectors particularly useful when you want something compact or don't feel like setting up a complete rig.
For a larger home setup, though, a traditional dab rig still makes plenty of sense.
Choosing a Nectar Collector
Don't overthink it.
Start with the material and size. Decide whether you want water filtration, then look at the type of tip and what's included with the piece.
Also think about cleaning. Concentrate residue builds up over time, so a design you can actually get into and maintain is usually a better choice than something unnecessarily complicated.
For travel, a kit with its own storage solution can be particularly convenient.
